that thing what tommy hilfiger said on oprah -- something about how he only designs his clothes for 'first-class' people (who are white) and not for anyone w/ an african/asian ethnicity? grrrrr...

yes i did, which is why i never wore his stuff to begin with. being 'trendy' isn't everything. i refuse to support someone who said that if he knew that non-white people were going to wear his clothes he wouldn't have made them so nice.

i don't understand why brand matters so much to alot of people on here anyways....

You posted the same exact thing as the person before you. That was weird.

Brands mean *nothing* to me. I wish the creators of A&F would say they hate white people so people would stop buying that crap.

Thank goddess for Canada where we don't have fucking A&F, and people get laughed at for wearing Roxy.

The rumor isn't true. Just check out the Tommy website. He was never even been a guest on her show.

I don't wear Tommy very often, but I'm suprised so many people would come to an immediate conclusion and make allegations against him (or his clothes line) without checking the credibility of the rumor. Eek... do you do that when you hear a rumor about a person at school? Heh.. sorry if I'm being rude, but that really bugs me.

Oh well, check this out: press statement on rumors

i heard that rumor years ago. i don't think he would have said that, because the african-americans make up a large percentage of his sales. i only have a pair of pants by him, but his clothing is pretty nice. A+F on the other hand is so...blah! all the styles are too repetitive or something...it just never appealed to me. around here you can wear whatever you want though, and no one will say anything

actually, tommy clothes are a lot different now. just walk into boscovs and there is purple, yellow, pink, green, etc. tommy clothes. and a lot of it is really cool, and it doesnt have TOMMY HILLFIGER or TOMMY GIRL all over it either. its just nice stuff. if anything, there is a tiny flag on the bottom or something. i mean some stuff has that, but its not like that is all he makes.

even if he is a racist, (which i think is totally wrong, i am so against predjudice and racism) but anyway, you are buying clothing! its not like you are racist too. and i really dont think that rumor is true anyhow. but if you like the clothes, buy them, if not dont. i dont see why it makes you shallow if you wear tommy clothes, or any other brand name for that matter. some people are insecure and want to wear those things to feel confident, and others just wear them cuz their friends do, and others just wear them because THEY LIKE THEM. i love tommy clothes, but i only buy things that are on sale, or if i absolutely love the item. and i dont just buy them because they are tommy, because i think that there are a lot of really ugly things that he designs too. i buy things i like, and if it happens to be a name brand, great, whatever. i just hate it when people say that if you wear those things you are shallow or whatever. it is a judgement on a whole group of people you dont even know, A STEREOTYPE. thats all. sorry for getting a little hyper about that.

I think that people feel like they'd be supporting a racist if they bought his products. Ya know? It's like how a lot of people wouln't buy products from China because they use "slave" labour. That was probally a bad analogie.

slmnchica- i totally agree w/ you. most of my clothes are name brand, and i DO NOT wear them because they are Guess or Tommy brand. i wear them because i like them. i just think it was wrong to say that all people who wear name brands are shallow. yes, some people are, but the majority of the people who wear name brands are not. yup, just had to say that.

I don't wear Tommy, I perfer Abercrombie, American Eagle, Guess?, Gap, etc.

(OT) We have NO A&F stores in Hawaii...so I have no idea exactly how their style is. As for Tommy, I own a few pairs of his jeans and it's pretty good quality. I can't say that he's all that bad and his stuff is okay.
