I was wondering if anyone has any advise or comments about self tanners? I am very fair complected and I am thinking of using one. Any suggestions or advise would be appreciated.

I say go for it; it's better than going to a tanning bed and it doesn't hurt your skin. But be careful. Get the shade for you, and TEST IT TEST IT TEST IT before you cover yourself with it or you might get lots of yellow streaks. My suggestion is Neutragena's Foam Self Tanning stuff. It's supposed to do wonders with no streaks, and besides it lasts a long time.

Eeeek! I had this one self tanner that didn't work well at all. I think the brand was Sun Secrets and I got it at Sally Beauty Supply...BEWARE! Heh...When I would sweat it would rub off on my clothes....My once white shorts are now a nice shade of orange where they met my legs...I don't recommend that product...

Sally is selling this one self tanner that they are selling on TV (anyone seen or tried it?)..it looks good but I haven't tried it yet...I bit the bullet and went back to the tanning bed...

Also, Neutrogena spray is alright, but I got a few streaks from that...so..I guess it just depends on how you apply it.

Good luck!

i got the kind that has sunblock mixed in it last year & it worked pretty good. ( i figured i'd try it out so i wouldn't burn in the sun, then peel, then tan & burn again. ) it didn't streak for me, turn me orange, leave marks, rub off, etc. i wish i knew what kind it was.

i'd try the neutrogena kind though. i heard it works well.

by the way, if it's streaking, it might be because your skin isn't clean enough. scrub good before you put it on.

last year i tried to self tan myself with this stuff my mom got. It was lancome..and it turned my legs orange! It was the most embarrasing thing...
i tried to get it off, by putting peroxide on it, and it made my legs look SUPER dried out

yuck im never doing self tan stuff again.
if you have fair skin it will look orange!

i recently used a self tanner. I think it was Johnson and Johnson or something. Anyway, it worked pretty well, and didn't look fake. Just make sure you do on a weekend and not a weeknight so that you can say you went to the beach or something (I did it on a week night... went to school the next day and everyone figured out it was fake, cuz they knew that I couldn't have gone anywhere the night before). Whew, hope that made sense. Also, I've heard the Neutrogena is great! GOod luck!

Off the subject, you probably don't want to hear this but I have never used a self tanner once in my life. I tan so easily my legs are like almost black and since I'm a swimmer my stomach is all white and I have a tan circle in the back, when I wear my bikini I look so wierd. Yeah I know that was off topic but who cares.

Hardly anyone, probably no one uses self-tanners here. It's already too sunny and hot. I hate my tan lines I get for wearing sneakers...ugh.
