I don't get much time to read during the school year, but I read a lot in the summer.I am reading Silas Marner for school. Hmmm...yes. It's okay. I just wish my teacher didn't always search for the deeper meaning. I hate that. ------------------ mandapanda <3 <3 in the sea of life, you're just a minnow. IP: Logged |

American Psycho by bret easton ellis...the one that new movie was based on. my friend gave it to me as a gift on wednesday because i'm into criminology and what-not. it would be alot better if the writer didn't get into so much detail about what people are wearing...it's coo though. i loved pet semetery!! whoever said theyre reading it. it kicks ass. stephen kings books are so much better than the movies..------------------ snooch to the motha fuckin nooch! **formerly cheshirekat**

I'm reading "Mariel of Redwall" by Brian Jacques... it's a small woodland creature fantasy book (part of the Redwall series.) One of the younger kids in my youth group lent it to me, so I thought I'd read it. It's fun I read "The Hiding Place" for my freshman religion class - Dharma, make sure that you see the movie as well! And I've read "Go Ask Alice", which seems to be almost required reading (along with "It Happened To Nancy") for teenage girls these days. But that's a good thing. ------------------ what a girl wants, what a girl needs: cornices and moguls! ris@ebay - http://members.ebay.com/aboutme/spootster/ ris@laundro - https://laundromatic.j0e.us/cgi-bin/laundro.cgi?justdisp&Ris IP: Logged |

go ask alice is terrible and overrated. right now i'm reading macbeth (ugh, shakespeare) for school and nothing for myself (i tend to read several books at a time). i have a long list of books to read over vacation, the first ones being woman, native, other by trinh t. minh-ha and killing rage: ending racism by bell hooks (i'm such a geek), both of which i started awhile back. I'm just starting to read A Confederacy of Dunces. It's pretty interesting so far. And from what I hear, it's pretty good. I just finished reading Brave New World for English. I actually liked to book despite the slow forward movement of the plot. On the side, I'm re-reading 2 book that are part of a trilogy: The Golden Compass and The Subtle Knife. I love these books. I can't wait for the third and last book to come out. I hope it does soon, the suspense is killing me. (Note: I don't usually like books that leave you hanging, but these were so interesting, I couldn't help but like them. Heh.) Adeienne: If you're still looking for a copy of To Kill a Mockingbird, my school got new copies of that book last year and so they let us keep the old copies we were issued when we read it in class. I can sell it to you relatively cheap. If you want it, it's yours. ------------------ Follow me into the desert.. ... i'm waldo everywhere!

Oooh, someone on the board is reading Steinbeck... he's my favorite author; his books can be long but they're amazing. My favorites of his are "East of Eden" and "Cannery Row", so give those a try if you like "Of Mice and Men". All of his novels are different stylistically, though, which is refreshing.------------------ what a girl wants, what a girl needs: cornices and moguls! ris@ebay - http://members.ebay.com/aboutme/spootster/ ris@laundro - https://laundromatic.j0e.us/cgi-bin/laundro.cgi?justdisp&Ris IP: Logged |
