People around here in San Francisco dress differently... trends from all different walks. I'm one of those laidback/back to nature birkenstock/teva sandal types, mixed with a little eclectic punker prep for concerts and church. There are a lot of Filipino, Hawaiian/Polynesian and Samoan kids around here, and they sometimes wear things from their culture - like those necklaces with the seeds (ya know, the big brown ones - no idea what they're called.) My friend's family owns their own Polynesian dance company, and she's constantly making costumes for their competitions and shows. ------------------ what a girl wants, what a girl needs: cornices and moguls! ris@ebay - http://members.ebay.com/aboutme/spootster/ ris@laundro - https://laundromatic.j0e.us/cgi-bin/laundro.cgi?justdisp&Ris IP: Logged |

my town is awful... it's all tommy hilfiger & abercrombie & shit. (no offense to anyone who likes these brands though.) i hate it. & all of a sudden (& outta nowhere) i see kiddie bracelets showing up. i've been wearing 'em for like 2 years nows. not to say i'm mad because "i started it." that's not how it is, but no one else in my entire school has been to a rave, let alone know what one is. i saw this girl wearing a t-shirt that said plur on it. i (politely) asked her what it meant...like i didn't know or something. she told me she didn't know, but it was from hot topic so it must be cool. ugh... ahhh.. i love all the pacific sunwear clothing and kiddie/raver bracelets. i go to a small skool (maybe 150 people at the most in 7th-12th!) so i'm out of place with everyone else wearing abercrombie and hilfiger. there are maybe 3 or 4 other people that dress in something different besides abercrombie, etc. it makes me sick. so of course i am a rejected freak and it is constantly bothering me. oops.. got off the topic. ------------------ (e)joe@j0e.us (aim)pezriotx (laundro)yumlollipop IP: Logged |

abercrombie and ecko are the main threads over here. my brother and myself were the first ones around the town to wear ufo pants w/ new balance shoes and now they are the most trendy thing this side of compton. kinda makes me mad. i mix my styles..mostly ecko, polo sport, pac sun and sometimes stuff from express. i always have to wear my pukka shell necklace and bracelets on my wrist,or my outfit never seems complete IP: Logged |

I wear a uniform to school. If that's not fashionable, I don't know what is.A&F is still real popular here. My best friend has gone teenybopper whore and now wears it. She's like a walking billboard. Thats why I hate all these brands. ------------------ <<< manda / strutter joe@j0e.us IP: Logged |

Here... well, we are cool. *lol* There are some super-preps, but mostly just like, plain shirts and jeans. You know.A good portion, however, are "freaks" or whatever- spiky hair, bigbig pants, rainbow jewelery, etc. Ravers, punks, etc., are rather abundant, as are skids. Oh, I am in Alberta, Canada. ------------------ envy.nu/acid --> personal page laundromatic.j0e.us/cgi-bin/laundro.cgi?justdisp&Candyacid --> laundro page joe@j0e.us --> contact me

Good ole' Marshall, Minnesota -- Population 13,000.98% of the kids here wear name brands like A&F, American Eagle, Tommy, Gap, and Old Navy. It doesn't bother me until it gets to the point where 8 girls will be wearing the same American Eagle shirt on the same day because these clothing companies only make a certain amount of different shirt designs and everyone has to wear the latest trend. As a rule, I only buy name brand stuff when it's on sale, and normally go with whatever looks good --name brand or not--but no matter what I refuse to shop at A&F... what gives them the right to charge $50 for a t-shirt that cost $.25 to make in China, made by the same little kids that make K-Mart's Cherokee brand. That's a bizarre example, but it fits. IP: Logged |

Hmm, I think Ris already spoke for me since we both live in the same city (SF, Cali). Personally, I'm a high maintenence person though. I usually wear heels with form-fitting pants. I don't own a single pair of sneakers, and I usually keep *just on the edge of* being a fashion slave. I wear the current fashions regardless of the brand. As long as I feel good in it, I will wear it. What I don't ever wear is sporty clothing or clothing that is meant to be DAMN comfortable. I don't like Old Navy, A&F, American Eagle Outfitters - all those sporty brands - I don't wear those. However, Bebe, Wet Seal, Esprit, and XOXO makes me drool. Ooooooh yeah. ------------------ Formerly known as Ultima108 Email me! joe@j0e.us [This message has been edited by CityBornGirl (edited 05-16-2000).] IP: Logged |

CityBornGirl: Hehe, it's funny how you and I are polar opposites in the same city... all I ever shop is GAP and Old Navy and Track & Trail. I've never set foot (really!) into Bebe (even though I'm right across the street from Stonestown) and I only venture into Esprit if it's the outlet down on Illinois Street.------------------ what a girl wants, what a girl needs: cornices and moguls! ris@ebay - http://members.ebay.com/aboutme/spootster/ ris@laundro - https://laundromatic.j0e.us/cgi-bin/laundro.cgi?justdisp&Ris IP: Logged |

Ris - Wow, what I wouldn't give to live right across from Stonestown. But I do live near downtown though- (do you ever get the feeling that downtown is almost dying out or something.. what with one store shutting down after another...) Heh, if I had the money, I can guarantee you I'd practically be living in the biggest Bebe store in the city. And you know what? I've never even HEARD of Track and Trail. LOL. Hey, you know I just remembered something. One time, I asked my friend if she thought I was high maintenance on a scale of 1-10. She said I was off the charts. That makes me SO proud. LOL. ------------------ Formerly known as Ultima108 Email me! joe@j0e.us [This message has been edited by CityBornGirl (edited 05-16-2000).] IP: Logged |

I live in BC, Canada, so I don't see many people wearing A&F stuff, but there were exactly *two* people I saw wearing A&F shirts. Here in Kamloops (I hate it here) the popular stuff is Tommy Hilfiger, Fubu, Silver jeans, and now people are into boardshorts and Roxy is starting to creep into style here. It's hard to walk around school without noticing that someone else is wearing the exact same thing. I can't wear Gap anymore without someone mentioning that I support sweatshops in China.
