Remember the earlier 90s,just out of the 80s,what are some of the trends you can think of from those days, heres the ones i remember.Kris Kross-hehe"jump jump, kris kross will make ya" New Kids On the block, actually this was still kinda the 80s "you got the right stuff" jansport bookbags, and collecting those little strings that go on the bookbag. troll dolls. Those bright rubber pacifiers all over the place. 90210 everything, bedsheets, posters, collecters cards, everything. what can you remember? ------------------ "Conditioned to self interest, with emotions locked away,if thats what they call normal then id rather be insaine" IP: Logged |

hehe actually, a bunch of my senior friends [we're all dorks] and i are putting together this list of things like this. except we called it junior high fads. let me get the list. [i apologize. it's long. i didn't want to edit this all cos i'm not patient]1. Slappy wrist things (I was never alowwed to have slappy wrists things due to the fact my mom thought the sharp blade inside would cut my artery on my wrists) 2.POGS (I was allowed to have pogs but i was forbidden to have the metal slammers, i was only allowed to have plastic slammer. Note: constantin krugylak had a 2.5lb metal slammer) 3.Cross colors (Dont lie ghetto children you knew you had a pair of the clown looking pants) 4.Stuff from Clark mall (Believe me in 5th grade you probably thought this was the coolest place to shop. know you look back and wonder why the helll you were so damn ghetto) 5.Girbauds (Yes i had a pair of electric blue girbauds they were damn cool and i was the first one in my block to have them. I actually regretfully still have a pair of girbauds shorts and i still wear them) 6.That weird plastic thing with the 2 balls on each end that you would click together (if someone knows what this is realy called E-mail me cause im clueless anyways i remeber how cool i was cause i had the biggest plastic ball thing ever. Damn those things were fuckin stupid) 7.Trolls (If you were a chick and dont admit to having a troll you must be from Pakistan or something cause i remeber every pre teen having a troll. By the way i thouhgt those were the dumbest fads ever. All it was, was a piece of plastic with orange horse pubes on top.. That is fuckin sick) 8.Gak (I never remebered this shit till ken told me but anyways it makes the lists for some reason why i dont know. but this is another item my mom didnt let me get for fear of it being toxic. (Sure mom like im going tom ingest 3 gallons of gak for thangsiving) 9.The Flowbee (Wait a second know one in there right mind had a flowbee what the hell am i thinking) 10.Mechanical pencils with 5mm lead (in 5th grade everyone had mechanical pencils exexpt for me because i was suicidal back than and my mom thought i would stab myself with the lead.) true story 11.Chain wallets (jessie what are you thinking this wasnt a Fad its still around but anyways ile add it on for amusment) 12.Corn nuts (Thanks Shab for the ideas, well corn nuts were cool and than they exploded with BBQ flavors and shit. For god sakes there fuckin pieces of dried corn what the hell were the makers thinking) 13.The ever famous Junior high Bubble gum fad (this was more of a cult classic in which it was cool to "Deal" gum to your friends in junior high. I never got the deal with that "Wow im so damn cool im going to smuggle bubbelicous into the school" or "Yo ile by an eight of bubble yum for" get reel 14. Truth or dare (another junior fad which was cool cause it was usally the place were you got your first kiss. Much to my chagrin it was from a girl who will remane nameless cause she is know a crack dealer, anyways if you havent played truth of dare something is wrong with you) 15.Skip its (I was a little old for this when it hit grammar school but Shab says it was big. Hey what the hell is funnier than jumpin on a black top over a plastic counter by yourself fo hours on end?) 16.Fat laces on Pumas and adidas (This was sent in by jon who of course was the main culprit in this trend. It was mostly a breaker thing in 8th grade and i thought it was damn cool........if you wanted to look like your were RUN from RUNDMC) 17.Kris kross shit (Wow that was the coolest when in 4th grade we used to walk around school with my pants and shirts backwards. Jesus christ what the hell were we thinking. This one is from Clara, your the coolest) 18.Ying Yangs (I actually just rememebred this one and how stupid i thought every girl was for having these. What the hell does it mean. And if it does have anything philosophical how the hell were we to know what the hell it was in 7th grade) 19.Peace signs (These happened around the same time as the hole ying yang thang so there pretty much interchangable Thanks sarah) 20.Undercuts (Good god these were stupid every dingle asian kid at Devonshire had an undercut like that realy looks cool. Im sure your going to get lot of chicks when you look like a pyschedelic mushroom.) 21.Nintendo CPR (I swear to god i invented this. Its when your nintendo didnt work and you had to blow on the game to get it to work. If you dont believe me i swear just ask ken. Anyways if you never had a nintendo you were a broke ass and if you didnt blow on your games you were a fool. 22. Bungee sports (well this was another stupid early 90's idea that never realy took off unless you were Mike O'malley from guts. God lord that shit was stupid. As iff the sport got anymore difficult with a bungee cord. For christ sakes you can jump 30 feet high i dont think basketball gets any harder with the bungee cord on. And if you thought you were cool cause you bungee jumped your a suckcer. I feel like its so safe to jump of a crane with a 50lb rubber band tied to your ankle. Whats next snorkling with a coffee straw?) 23.Hypercolor shirts (Ile admit it i had a shirt maybe 3 shirts but thats only cause my dad sold them and I found it rather cool when chicks would blow my shirts. Those shirts were cool yet no that i look back i put my head down in shame cause the only reason to get it was for chicks to blow on my shirt/)

Yeah,i almost forgot about those slappy bracelets!I had a TON of them, and my school wouldnt allow them anymore cause they said it distracted the kids from paying attension in class, cause everyone would just slap the things on and off constantly. And i STILL have TONS of pogs,i even have some old skool Madonna pogs,heehee-i just never got rid of the things. And i remeber those plastic ball things where you click the balls together,i used to play with them all the time,i had a few,i have no idea what they were called.and the faboulous Koosh ball,we musnt forget that ------------------ "Conditioned to self interest, with emotions locked away,if thats what they call normal then id rather be insaine" IP: Logged |

Toggle...Heh..Ok, I don't know if I can explain this...but I'll try... Ever see those little "stoppers" or whatever you wanna call it on the end of a sweatshirt string (the part that you can tighten and loosen around your neck)....They were usually plastic or metal...round, square, etc... They also sometimes came on shoe's....the shoelace part...or on coats....or even on drawstring pants..... They were used to keep the strings in place..(ie: you wanted to make your pants tighter...squeeze the toggle and put it wherever you wanted.....viola! it stayed there..heh) Ok, I'm sure that didn't help...Best I could do ------------------ ::+ She once believed in every story he had to tell. Oh New Kids on the Block!! Dude, they were the coolest. I remember when all the girls would tie their hair to the side with some outrageous colored scrunchie. Another thing was wearing 2 (or more!) different colored socks at the same time and layer them so you could see all the colors. Hehe IP: Logged |
