I got this forward via email yesterday and I was pretty shocked... I even went and checked their website to see if the lyrics really were on the album, and they are. I know that they're known for shocking lyrics, but I think that this is going way too far... I'm really sickened that this kind of thing is still out there.

-------

A band called the Bloodhound Gang sings a song called "Yellow Fever." The lyrics are below and are highly anti-Asian. They are set to perform at the Univ. of Maryland (I'm assuming the College Park campus) at some student-run festival. Some student groups there, particularly Asian American and gay and lesbian ones, are demanding that the Bloodhound Gang be barred from performing. As far as I know, the school has removed the band from the schedule. According to the Univ. of Maryland campus paper, their album is #20 on the Billboard charts.

Yellow Fever

Are those numchucks in your pants or are you just happy to see me?
Let me take you back to the day that I met my China girl
When I landed a 'Pam' like on the San Fran Real World
I was sweating like a vegetable inside of a wok
I'd never been to Asia Minor but I was gonna Bangkok
Like Kristy Yamaguchi I had to break the ice
Should I talk about Mothra M*A*S*H or shrimp-fried rice?
I was sharp as a Chinese star but it's a line I threw
Just thirty seconds over Tokyo and this Johnny would Woo
I took a shot like Jeanette Lee
put on my moves like Bruce Lee
I told he every Soon Yi needs a little Woody
She said for all the tea in China my vagina's not free
But my love will linger longer than the Ming Dynasty
I said I needed her to do and her to do my laundry
I knew she needed a way to stay legally within the country
She was made in Taiwan I said I'm O.K. with that
Just promise me you'll never try to eat my cat
Chinky chinky bang bang I love you
Chinky chinky bang bang I know you love me too
In Japan the hand is used as a knife
In Japan a man's wife's hand job than can cost him his life
But now this Captain Kirk has his own Sulu
I'll shampoo her Foo Man Chu with Lo Hung Wang Goo
Cause I ride my slant-eyed slope like a brand new Kawasaki
Oh me chinky she's so kinky got me hot like Nagasaki
Burnin' up like Napalm burstin' like an A-bomb
I think I got that jungle fever but I caught it in 'Nam
She's like an oriental rug cause I lay her where I please
Then I blindfold her with dental floss and get down on her knees
I'm a diving Kamikaze eating out Chinese
First I'll have the poo-poo platter than some tuna sushi
She'll be screaming like Godzilla and kickin' like Jackie Chan
I'll get her redder than China wetter than the Sea of Japan
Like the Chinese New Year she's gonna see fireworks
Now be a good chinky and press Jimmy's shirts
Chinky chinky bang bang I love you
Chinky chinky bang bang I know you love me too
Sing chinky sing
One more time
Chinky chinky bang bang I love you
Chinky chinky bang bang I know you love me too
Chinky chinky bang bang chinky bang
Chinky chinky bang biddily biddily biddily bang

Yeah I guess they are taking it a little TOO far. Lupus (the chubby guy from the bloodhound gang) is really good friends with me and I know for a fact he is really a nice guy. I've only met the rest of the band a few times so I don't really know them but, Lupus is a sweety and I'm sure he loves Asians hehe.

I think thats ridiculous....it's obvious that these guys are just making a joke. People are just upset because it's so un-pc. I'm sure these guys don't hate asians, and i'm sure it's not meant to hurt anyone. It's just silly to get all worked up about it. There so many blatently racist acts going on everyday, and it's just easier to get pissed off at this band for making a joke, than it is to get pissed off at the police, the government, and society in general. Personally I'd much rather protest the murder and terrorizing of minorites that the NYPD are responsible for than a joke by a band.

I think the Bloodhound Gang is just trying to bring a few laughs. I doubt they hate asians. Have you heard "The Bad Touch"? That song is suppose to make you smile. That is what the Bloodhound Gang is about.

how can you even think there isn't anything racist about this song? the lyrics are based on racist slurs and stereotypes--it doesn't MATTER if the guys in the band are "nice"; most racists don't even slightly resemble hood-wearing members of the kkk or skinheads. jaylene, if you care about the "terrorizing of minorities that the NYPD are responsible for" then you should care about this; racism is racism and it doesn't matter who's perpetrating it.

You know what.....it doesn't matter. They're a band that makes fun of things for a living. I seriously doubt that they actually believe the things they write in the lyrics of their songs...not just this song, but all their songs. It's a joke to them. Sure, some people are going to take it the wrong way, and not realize that its a joke. And if these people want to get all worked up about it, that's fine. You know why? Because in a couple weeks there will be something new for everyone to be outraged about, and this will be forgotten. Because that's the way things work. Now, I can't believe I'm actually bothering to write any more about this at all. If you wanna be upset about it, go ahead. It doesn't matter either way.

I totally agree with Jay .. That was very well put. I think it's fun when people get real upset about racism yet you know they've laughed at a racist joke or told one or done something that's racist. I mean yeah I've laughed at a joke or whatever but, I don't go around trying to hang black people, I mean I'm part black myself but, just because I listen to the BHG and think it's funny doesn't mean I'm not a nice person.

I'd hope and pray that they don't believe what they write in their songs... but the fact that they think is funny (heck, that anyone would) is enough to make me sick. I know that they're playing on my sense of outrage, and honestly, I am affected by this. I'm surprised that more of you aren't bothered by this - is there a limit to how far a joke can go?

aren't they just looking for attention like most other bands? if so, they've achieved it. people are getting worked up over one of their songs.. just what they want.

it might be a joke, but a stupid one at that. they have no respect for asians. if an all white band sang this about an african american, it would be all over the news...as a racism group. so i will take it serious. and really "bad touch", is annoying and a played out song. might as well cast it with brittany spears and the backstreet boys. i'll pray that bad touch was a one hit wonder. not even at that.

I doubt "Bad Touch" will be a one-hit wonder.. Hasn't the Bloodhound Gang like two albums before there new one? They are just finally reconized, and will be more popular.

No, I am not a fan of theres, I am just saying I have Asain friends, and they like them, and they laugh. It isn't a real big deal. It is called freedom of speech.

freedom of speech? who said they didnt have the right to say what they think. were also allowed to have our own opinions. so, ive expressed mine. two albums? does that really matter...a local band in houston, produced more than 4 albums..and wow, nothings has happened. anyways..end of my posts on this topic, if bloodhound does continue..oh well, there not that popular here. more people are still crazy about...bush, blink 182, etc...i just wish they would get more creative with their shitty rhymes.

One more reason this kind of thing gets me riled up... if you know anything about Asian history (or the history of any ethnic minority in the United States, for that matter) women have been sold into sex slavery and as they got older and "less appealing", they were left for dead.

(I watched the episode of Dateline on NBC tonight about the sex slave trade in Eastern Europe tonight, if you're wondering where all this came from.)

uh, this isn't about being a nice person. at all. if you think people are overreacting, you obviously don't have to experience racism on a daily basis.

I dunno I think they just do it to get attention like anything else like everyone else was saying...I'm so de-sensitized when it comes to racial jokes...I've been teased my whole life for being such a mutt...I'm respectively 1/3 Mexican 1/3 Native American *Navajo*Cherokee* and 1/3 anglo. So I get teased all the time but the fact that someone says everyone laughs or makes racial jokes is so untrue. I have never laughed at a racial joke because its not funny. I used to cry over it everyday and then I realized whats the point??They are stupid if they don't like me because I look all kinds of races.People can believe and listen to whatever they want it doesn't make them right or wrong it just makes them people.
