I have no idea what to charge! I always end up charging less than I should. When I go to sites like Amazon and Alloy to see how much THEY charge for shipping it's always around $5 to $7... but I think they overcharge. does anyone know where I can find a chart or can you offer me some tips on how to figure out what the right amount is? thanks!------------------ you can go see my user page at https://laundromatic.j0e.us/cgi-bin/laundro.cgi?justdisp&Limecake

it depends. if your just sticking it in the mailbox, put about 5 stamps and charge em like 33 cents time 5. (too lazy to multiply). if your bringing it to the post office, charge them around 3.00-4.00 (3.20 is priority and you may want to put bubble wrap or styrafoam around it) my dad did ebay and if you want be to ask him, ill be happy to!------------------ aim: daintytinkerbell w h e e ! seee...I would get that but it would defeat the whole purpose of trying to make money off of auctions. once I sell all of my stuff on Laundro, I know I'll never use it again... OH! haha but then I could auction the SCALE off too. so where did you guys get it? at UPS? I don't have a Staples here, I don't think.------------------ you can go see my user page at https://laundromatic.j0e.us/cgi-bin/laundro.cgi?justdisp&Limecake

hehe, I wish I had a scale. Maybe I could get my dad to buy one for me at Staples... ehehe, I doubt it But the shopping sites overchange WAY too much sometimes... it's mainly because they charge a handling fee (which I find pointless and annoying!) But it would be much easier to get a scale, in my opinion. If you are going to be putting up a lot of auctions, you'll be making much more than $6-8 (for the cost of a scale) and be making a profit. Anyway, I pretty much repeated myself... I'm such a hypocrite, too. IP: Logged |

i kinda wish i had a scale, today i shipped out a package, and it cost 5 bucks just to send out a sweater. that includes the price of the envelope. it sucked cuz that meant i made a 1 dollar profit off the shirt. awesome let me tell ya. but the thing is, if i charged 5 bucks to ship things, no one would buy my stuff, so what am i supposed to do? i mean, even if i had a postal scale, it would still be expensive to ship things like pants and heavy shirts. what do you guys do about those things?IP: Logged |

i have had a mail scale for years now and i love it. its so much easier just to weigh something because then you can put down a more precise shipping cost. some things are heavy, and people ocmplain about the p&h, but with me you pay for the weight of the package. i love my mail scale to bits i use www.usps.gov for all my overseas shipping information, but you need a mail scale to use that too!------------------ xox-brooke http://creamsicle.thesindicate.com https://laundromatic.j0e.us/cgi-bin/laundro.cgi?justdisp&Wishingwell IP: Logged |

definately go priority unless it's something very small and then go standard mail. i usually state a flat shipping rate of $3.20, because i know i'll be doing priority and the package doesn't way much. if they don't like $3.20, oh well, i don't pay out of my pocket for shipping, unless it's a trade. if it's something like the weight of a cassette it's only like $.50 to $.75 to mail standard, clothes would be just a little more standard. just estimate. if it's something really heavy, tell the person you need to check on shipping first (include it in your auction info) or check shipping before putting the auction up.oh, someone said ups. never go ups. it's no better than priority, but much more expensive. i wouldn't sell anything for less than $5 profit anyhow. i'd rather skip the po trip and donate it to a charity thrift. if you want to get rid of something not worth much though, make a lot. gather up a few things you don't want and make a combined price that you're happy with and then sell it. ------------------ what's to gain in my selfishness? what will i promote and what will be pushed back? my strength must rise. hope come forward. -zao melody

well, this is what i know so far from all the things i have shipped that i can remember:a cd cost about 4 stamps to ship a regular tank top or baby tee also cost about the same a sweater costs 3.20 a pair of gloves/socks or something like that costs about 50 cents. **does not including packaging material and that is all i can think of now. maybe some of you could do this, and then we could just check back and look at it. or how about if you guys all list things like this, and then ill make it into a list? does that sound like a good idea? or we can just leave it on here and keep adding to it. i dont know, just thought it might be helpful! ------------------ the world is a tragedy to those who feel, a comedy to those to think. formerly known as alaynalee, still known as that on auctions. if you ever did a transaction w/me, could you please re-leave me feedback? i will do the same for you. thank you! << if it's something like the weight of a cassette it's only like $.50 to $.75 to mail standard >>it costs 77c to mail a cassette tape (and cassette mailers at the p.o. cost 75c), anything less than that & the person you're mailing it to will have to pay the difference. as has been mentioned here already, it's definitely a good idea to invest in a small postal scale. that way neither you nor the people you have transactions with will lose money. ------------------ http://ericka.pitas.com www.panderzinedistro.com IP: Logged |

usually they ask you if you want to send somethign priority mail because it ends up being like 5 or 10 cents more. you can also just say i'd like to send this priority mail. i love the mail people at my college. we're all friends i'm not looking foreward to going home & sending things out at the real post office.IP: Logged |

DO NOT buy your packaging supplies at the post office. rip off. buy them at kmart or any bigger v=chain drug store or office supply store. you can buy them cheaper there and even cheaper if you buy the bulk packages with like 5 padded mailers. if you need a box try a box place (they have places here that just sell boxes for shipping and moving etc) or save boxes from gifts shoes, etc.------------------ what's to gain in my selfishness? what will i promote and what will be pushed back? my strength must rise. hope come forward. -zao melody

yeah, definitely do not buy padded envelopes from the post office. they give it to you for a dollar, then you gotta pay for the shipping. i went to a *friendlier* small office supply store in my area, and they sell bubble envelopes there for about fifty-five cents. if you buy in bulk from staples, it'll be even cheaper. since i'm not old enough to drive, i find it very difficult to go to the post office. most of the time, i'll leave the packages in my mailbox and write a little note to the mailcarrier. she'll send them out for me and then tell me exactly how much to pay her, or sometimes, i'll just leave five bucks and she'll give me change. it is a lot easier. hope that helped. ------------------ ~*knightress*~ life is tough. hang in there.
