My friend and I are going 1940s/1950s style for prom, and we need to get him a hat... we scoured all of the stores today, and we really didn't find much of anything that fit and that was well-priced. So if you have a black fedora (or if you know someone who does!) that you're willing to let us borrow or have for around $20, let me know... a black or burgundy colored band would be perfect. Oh yeah - my friend's head is pretty big (he's 6' and has the forehead and lots of hair to match) so it'd have to be a large men's size. THANKS! ------------------ what a girl wants, what a girl needs: cornices and moguls! IP: Logged |

They sell black fedoras at Hot Topic. I think they're around $30-$40... http://www.hottopic.com

Thanks spaz + melody... yeah, the stores that we went to were the vintage stores in the Haight in San Francisco, but everything was pretty high priced and there wasn't any "Rent-A-Hat" program. I might check out some costume stores, though... I'm not giving up just yet! ------------------ what a girl wants, what a girl needs: cornices and moguls! IP: Logged |

Ris, if I'm not mistaken, I think they have some consignment shops and such along Polk Street where the 19 bus runs. If you walk all the way up and down there, maybe you'll find something. I think the consignment shops are mostly along Polk, heading in the direction of Galileo High School, NOT Civic Center. Hmm, let's see, there are also TONS of vintage shops along Fillmore in the 2000 and 3000 block area. There's a vintage store there called Departures From the Past, I went there last time and they had plenty of crazy old stuff. Hope that helps! =)------------------ Formerly known as Ultima108 Email me! joe@j0e.us IP: Logged |

we only have 1 good vintage store in va beach, which is so pathetic and i hate it, but they're very pricey too. however, they do rent items because they have a costume part as well. so that's a good idea, to check there at a costume shop. cityborngirl sounds like she knows the vintage stores like the back of her hand. lol.------------------ what's to gain in my selfishness? what will i promote and what will be pushed back? my strength must rise. hope come forward. -zao melody
